Permission granted for sensitive regeneration at 17–18 High Street, Chipping Norton

We are delighted to have secured listed building consent for the regeneration of 17–18 High Street, Chipping Norton, on behalf of Gentian.

The project revitalises a neglected rear yard accessed from Albion Street, transforming it into a high-quality public realm and creating a new two-storey dwelling designed in the local vernacular.

The scheme includes the refurbishment and repair of two listed buildings, reinstating traditional sash windows, breathable lime render, and improved access to the rear via a new communal wild garden. The adjoining Boots retail unit will benefit from restored shopfronts and improved circulation, enhancing the High Street’s heritage character.

This sensitive intervention reconnects the historic burgage plot pattern and delivers a cohesive design that strengthens the conservation area’s fabric
