We’re looking for a Senior Architect (ARB) / Architectural Technician (CIAT qualified) with at least five years’ post-qualification experience join our Chipping Norton studio.
Full-time: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: Dependent on experience and in line with RIBA guidelines
The role
You’ll work on a rich variety of conservation, ecclesiastical and residential projects, from listed homes to historic estates, helping to deliver designs that are both buildable and beautiful. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical problem-solving, has an eye for detail, and takes pride in making old buildings thrive again.
Because many of our projects are in rural locations, you’ll need a full, clean UK driving license and access to a vehicle (business mileage claimable through expenses).
What you will be doing:
Lead and coordinate the technical delivery of projects from planning and listed building consent through to construction.
Prepare and manage detailed drawings and construction information to a consistently high standard.
Ensure compliance with Building Regulations at every stage.
Oversee work on site, supporting contractors and clients to achieve the best results.
Apply your understanding of historic building detailing and repair to develop practical, lasting solutions.
Manage project timelines and budgets with care and precision.
What we’re looking for:
Chartered Member of CIAT or ARB.
At least five years’ post-qualification experience, including conservation and residential projects.
Experience of running conservation projects on site, guiding contractors and maintaining best practice.
A strong understanding of conservation best practice.
Strong working knowledge of UK Building Regulations.
Skilled in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and NBS or similar specification software.
Proficient in producing detailed technical drawings and clear design information.
Knowledge of traditional materials and construction techniques.
Hand drawing and sketching skills to explore and communicate ideas.
Ability to manage several projects at once with attention to detail.
Experience monitoring project finances and budgets.
A collaborative and positive communicator, able to work closely with clients, consultants, and contractors.
A genuine passion for sustainable reuse of historic buildings.

We are currently looking to recruit an exceptional part 1 or 2 architectural assistant to join our Chipping Norton studio.
The role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Part 1 or Part 2 architectural assistant technician to support with a wide range of conservation and residential projects. You’ll be excited by bringing buildings back to life, adapting them sustainably for the future, while being sensitive to the natural environment around them.
Due to the travel required for this role, you must hold a full clean driving license with access to a vehicle, business mileage claimable through expenses. We are offering a salary in line with the RIBA recommendations.
What you will be doing
You’ll be responsible for supporting with a variety of design and conservation projects from planning and listed building consent to supporting with construction information. We have a reputation for delivering buildable solutions at each stage of the design process as well as producing high quality planning and listed building consent, building control and construction drawing packages. You will be responsible for producing high quality drawings whilst taking the initiative to explore solutions and resolve technical challenges.

Who we are looking for:
A recently qualified graduate with RIBA Part 1 or Part 2 recognised qualification.
A minimum of 6 months industry experience in practice.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Sketchup, and Photoshop.
Basic knowledge of the building regulations.
