Julia Simkins is an ARB registered architect and joins us having run her own business nearby in Chadlington for the past 15 years, where she worked on a number of local vernacular buildings in the ‘Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’, carrying out alterations and extensions of clients homes. Julia joins us to develop her skills to become accredited in conservation, to further her interest in historic buildings.
Julia, started her career at Architects Design Partnership in Oxford, working on Oxford University buildings, such as stonework renovations at Jesus College, through to the conversion of the Oxford Prison into a hotel. Julia has always enjoyed working with historic buildings, since my postgraduate diploma at Oxford Brookes University where she helped to set up ‘Built Resources Studies’, that focussed on the re-use of existing buildings.
Julia brings to the practice, a wealth of experience of carrying out sensitive traditional alterations to historic buildings, and an excellent eye for detail and traditional design.
